A few weeks ago, my minister suggested I start reading through the book of Psalm. It’s been a slow start, but the more I read the more the Holy Spirit shows me things our Father knew I was ready to hear…and, to understand.
Several things became quite clear to me today. In Psalm 7:15-16 (NIV) I read, “He who digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit he has made. The trouble he causes recoils on himself: his violence comes down on his own head.” On occasion, I have caught myself saying, “okay, I’m in the pit now, and I don’t know how to get out!” Usually this accompanies blaming others for getting there in the first place. But, the truth is that I put myself in the pit.
Psalm 10:4 says, “In all his thoughts, there is no room for God.” I filled my mind and soul with my own thoughts and fears, and left no room for God. That is more than likely when I began digging that pit!
God reminded through Psalm 9:7, 9-10, and 13-24 that it’s not too late. Through God’s tender mercy, my sinful and unproductive thoughts can be replaced with trust, love and peace that can only come from Him. “The Lord reigns forever. He is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death, that I may declare your praises….and, rejoice in your salvation.”
We are never alone. If you are in a pit and feel like there is no way out, believe me when I say, “You can get out of that pit!” God’s Holy hand is there to lift you out.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for your constant love and for giving us courage (and a little help) to climb out of our pits!
Praying God will watch over you and fill your hearts with His amazing love.
Blessings.
